When my husband I were dating, he knew I loved Horses and thought he would impress me by taking me Horseback ridingā¦ yet he had āneverā been on a horse. š“
God Love him. He was all smiles and I was excited that he went to extreme lengths to impress me! We got all saddled up and away we went!
Our instructor ahead of us, me behind, trotting on my gorgeous brown horse, and then my husbandā¦ I look back at him behind me and the smile had faded. He was holding onto the reigns as tight as he could and sliding from side to side on the saddle. His sweet horse was doing its best to figure out what in the world was going on. Should it go right? Left? My husband glancing up with a look of terror, with droplets of sweat beading down his brow and a look of āIs this over yet?ā across his face. š¤£ But, he held on tight and didnāt give up. He held on knowing it was for me. He was committed. š
At the end of our ride, he was a bit tossed around, but all smiles again and holding me tight. Needless to say, we have never been horseback riding again.
This is the perfect example of marriage.
What God has joined together, let no man separateā (Matt. 19:6)ā¦ This includes a Horse.
We start out all smiles and happy. Yet, along the way, it gets bumpy. We get tossed about. We have to hold the reigns as tight as we can. Marriage isn’t easy. It’s hard work, it’s not just the “feeling” of Loveā¦ Its commitment. So hold onto the reigns. It’s worth the adventure! š
