I have always heard about Judas since I was a little girl. You know the guy? Right?  The one that betrayed Jesus. Ratted him out and did it for a lousy 30 pieces of silver. (Matthew 26:15) He led the solders to the olive grove where Jesus was praying. There he kissed his cheek. This itself can be a whole sermon. The enemy will ALWAYS disguise himself as someone who loves you. Something beautiful. A kiss itself is a sign of love. A reverence. Oh how wicked is the enemy. Anyway he led the soldiers there and the solders arrested him.

Now growing up, I just took it with a grain of salt an assumed it happened over night.  Judas woke up, the chief priests tempted him with some pretty coins and he was willing to do it because He wanted the money and Jesus said so at the last supper, but you know when you are reading your Bible something hits you that you have never seen before! Some of you all may have seen this or know this, but it hit me brand new! Judas was a thief!!! Six Days before the Passover and when Jesus arrived in Bethany a dinner was given in his honor. Mary took a pint of โ€œexpensiveโ€ perfume and she poured it on his feet and wiped it with her hair. Judas was the ONLY one to come up for air and object. He asks, โ€œWhy wasnโ€™t the perfume sold and the money given to the poor?โ€ Acting like he cared about the poor and they needed to make sure they took care of the needyโ€ฆ mind youโ€ฆ she is washing the LORDS feet with this beautiful perfume and he is objecting!! Then this is where it hit meโ€ฆ John 12:6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because HE WAS A THIEF; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put in it.

HE STOLE FROM JESUS! HE STOLE FROM THE DISCIPLES!! His greed and tainted heart did not happen over night. The enemy knows how to get to you. He knows your weaknesses. He knows what will cripple you. He knew what would cause Judas to fall. It is no coincidence that it says in 1 Timothy 10 that root of all evil is the Love Of Money. Wow did that turn out to be true. It was his love for money that left the door open for his downfall. Satan had entered him from his greed. (John 13:27)

We do not just wake up and end up at rock bottom. Our choices will gradually take us there. That is why our choices are SO important! The enemy knows that one little crack can lead to destruction. Remember Judas walked with Jesus. Talked with Jesus, and performed miracles in his name. Our hearts can โ€œquicklyโ€ deceive us. We have a savior that gives us the armor (Ephesians 6: 10-18) we need to protect us. Its up to us to use it!ย  The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Our Savior comes that we may have hope and a future. Seriously, the best verse.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life!

And so many forget the next verseโ€ฆ.(17)For God did not come to send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to SAVE the world through Him.
