Itโs blueberry season!! So I had to try this super easy 3 ingredient blueberry jam. And when I say easy, I mean easy!!

Blueberry season in the Midwest typically runs from late June to early July and I couldn’t be happier. That means it time for all the amazing blueberry recipes. I can see why people love them so much. People have been eating blueberries for more than 13,000 years! The blueberry is one of the only foods that is truly naturally blue in color, which not only makes them fun to eat and make colorful dishes, but that natural color called anthocyaninโis the same compound that provides the blueberryโs amazing health benefits. Eating blueberries has been linked to health benefits including a reduced risk of cancer, increased insulin response, a reversal in age-related memory loss, and lowering blood pressure. Now who wouldn’t want to eat these amazing little treats!
One of my all time favorite recipes to make with blueberries is this super easy 3 ingredient blueberry jam. Again, when I say easy, I mean easy!!ย If you can boil water, you can make this jam!
I was totally craving some blueberry jam and this delivered! It was perfect for my quick at home throw together poor boys charcuterie plate. It is so good with biscuits, toast, on top cottage cheese or ice cream. The possibilities are endless.

๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ง๐๐๐:
2 heaping cup of fresh blueberries
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of lemon juice

๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐จ:
Add blueberries, sugar, and lemon Juice to a medium saucepan.
Stirring frequently, cook over medium high heat until blueberry mixture comes to a rolling boil. (This isย a vigorous boil where large bubbles rapidly rise to the surface and burst continuously.ย )
Reduce heat to medium and continue boiling and stirring for 10 minutes.
Towards the end of the cooking time, I used a potato masher to really mash up those blueberries, but you could use a fork or the back of the spoon to gently crush them.
At the end of the 10 minutes the blueberry liquid should be slightly thickened. (You can also use a thermometer to judge this as well.)
When the blueberry mixture reaches 220ยฐF, the jam is done. (I watched the clock, my jam hit
220ยฐF at almost exactly 10 minutes.)
Transfer the blueberry jam to a storage jar and let come to room temperature.
โข Once at room temp, seal jars and store in the refrigerator. The jam might take 24 to 48 hours to fully set up. (Sometimes sooner and it can be eaten immediately!)
To really get that goodness and freshness, itโs best to use in about 10 days. (However, If sealed properly and unopened, your jam could last anywhere from 1 to 3 months in the fridge!)

Blueberry Tip:
The silvery sheen (or โbloomโ) found on the skin of blueberries is a naturally occurring compound that helps protect the fruit. This why you should only wash your blueberries right before youโre going to use or eat them. The raw berries should be stored in the refrigerator and will keep fresh for up to 10 days.
