To say I am proud of myself is an understatement. I was seriously showing this stuff off like I had won a major award! I MADE BUTTER! Itโ€™s the small things that make me happy. I have seen so many people lately posting about how you can make your own butter, and how you can use it only using a jar. Just shake away! I was down for thatโ€ฆ however I have arthritis and wasnโ€™t really looking forward to 15-20 minutes of vigorous shaking. So I did a little research for those of us that may want a little easier way to make โ€œHomemade Butterโ€ an alternative way! You can also use a food Processor! 

Whip cream stage.

It is so easy and just takes a little but of time. You watch heavy cream become butter in three steps. 1 minute will produce whipped cream, 2 minutes will produce granules, 3 minutes will produce buttermilk and in about 3ยฝ minutes the butter will form. This whole process just amazed me. After you have your Butter, then you are left with โ€œButtermilkโ€ (Which by the way, is still delicious!)

Drain with a cheesecloth.

๐‘พ๐’‰๐’‚๐’•๐’€๐’๐’–๐‘ต๐’†๐’†๐’…:

  • 1 pint heavy cream (high fat content)
  • ยฝ teaspoon salt, or to taste (I left mine unsalted)
  • Ice water

๐‘พ๐’‰๐’‚๐’•๐‘ป๐’๐‘ซ๐’:

  1. POUR the heavy cream into food processor.
  2. PROCESS the cream for about 3ยฝ minutes.  
  3. Grab a bowl and cheesecloth and cover a bowl, POUR off the buttermilk & solids in cheesecloth and let drain. Squeeze and drain out all liquid.  Save the buttermilk for baking or drinking.
  4. POUR ยฝ cup of ice water over the butter.  Using a spoon or rubber spatula mash and stir the water around the butter.  Pour off the cloudy water and repeat this process with ยฝ cup of ice water three or four times until the poured off water is clear.
  5. ADD the salt if using and work it into the butter.
  6. WRAPย the butter in cheesecloth and squeeze out any remaining buttermilk or water and form a ball.ย  If you donโ€™t have cheesecloth you can use clean hands or clean, thin dish towel.
  7. PLACE butter into a container.  Keep refrigerated.
